Patricia Oden
August 10, 1949 — March 12, 2026
It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce the passing of Patricia Oden, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who left this world peacefully on March 12, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on August 10, 1949, in the heartland of Ohio, Patricia lived a life rich in love, laughter, and unwavering compassion. She was a beacon of strength and grace, who touched the lives of all who knew her.
Patricia was the beloved daughter of Mary Ruth Murdock, who preceded her in death, along with her precious daughter Terry Taylor and her devoted husband of over 50 years, John Oden. Together, Patricia and John built a beautiful life filled with love and laughter, nurturing their children Norman Taylor, Jackie Taylor, and DeShawn Oden with boundless affection and guidance.
Known for her generous spirit and kind heart, Patricia dedicated her career to serving others, working in a nursing home where she found great joy in helping those in need. Her colleagues and residents knew her as a woman with a heart of gold, always ready with a smile and a word of encouragement. Her kindness was matched only by her strength, as she was known to "take no mess" in her pursuit of justice and compassion.
A long-time member of The House of Prayer Church, Patricia's faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her love of the Lord was evident in her actions, her words, and the beautiful singing voice she shared so humbly, despite her shyness. Her infectious laugh and good heart left an indelible mark on everyone she met, spreading joy and comfort wherever she went.
Patricia's creativity knew no bounds. She found great pleasure in shopping, gardening, cooking, baking, and crafting, always infusing her creations with love and care. Her home was a testament to her artistic spirit, brimming with warmth and beauty.
Patricia is survived by her loving children Norman Taylor, Jackie Taylor, and DeShawn Oden, her siblings Norman and Eric Taylor, her cherished grandchildren Diamond Taylor, Christian Taylor, ShaJuana Pickett, and Desteny Tolbert, and a legacy of ten grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren, each carrying forward a piece of her heart and spirit.
In accordance with Patricia's wishes, a private ceremony will be held to honor her life. As expressed by her granddaughters Desteny and ShaJuana, this intimate gathering reflects her desire for simplicity and closeness, allowing family and close friends to celebrate her life in a manner that she envisioned.
While we mourn the loss of Patricia, we also celebrate the profound impact she had on our lives. Her spirit will live on in the laughter of her great-grandchildren, the warmth of a shared meal, and the quiet strength of a family united in love. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, resilience, and faith that will continue to inspire us all.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in Patricia's memory, an enduring tribute to her generous spirit and love of helping others.
May her soul rest in eternal peace, embraced by the love she gave so freely in life.
