May 4, 1955 — May 30, 2026

Patricia Mary Laffey, a beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend, passed peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones on May 30, 2026, in Carthage, Illinois. Born on May 4, 1955, in Brooklyn, New York, Trish lived a life filled with kindness, joy, and remarkable achievements. Trish was the cherished daughter of Robert and Mary Kearney and was raised alongside her siblings in a home where love and laughter were the mainstays. Although she has now joined her sister, Barbara, and nephew, Kyle, in eternal rest, she leaves behind a family who adored her deeply. Her brothers, Rob, Terrance, and Kevin Kearney, and sister, Geri Silagyi, along with her nieces Nancy Carey, Kathy Schwarz, Corina Graves, Tina Silagyi, Erin Kearney, and Lauren Crutchfield, and her nephews, Aiden and Brendan Carey, and Michael Silagyi, will always carry her memory in their hearts. Trish was an accomplished professional in the Information Technology sector, specializing in human resources. Her career was marked by dedication and excellence, leading her to hold esteemed positions, eventually retiring as the Director of Human Resources for Tenet Healthcare Corporation in Dallas, Texas. Her leadership and compassion left an indelible mark on all who worked with her. In 2004, Trish and her devoted husband, Tim, embarked on a new chapter of their lives by retiring to Carthage. There, she designed and built their dream home on a slice of the old family farm, where she found peace in the embrace of nature. The open fields, wooded ditches, and streams became her sanctuary, a place where she connected with the beauty of the world around her. Though miles separated her from her roots in New Jersey and New York, Trish's heart never strayed far from her family. Her visits were frequent, her thoughts often with them, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones. Her mother, Mary, held a special place in her heart, and Trish's love for her was profound and enduring. Trish had a zest for life that was truly infectious. She was a lover of music and could often be found dancing until the early hours of the morning. To her, every car ride was an opportunity for a concert, and her laughter was a melody that resonated with everyone she met. Her ability to connect with people, to share in their stories, and to embrace them as part of her extended family meant that she was never short of friends. Her warmth and generosity of spirit ensured that strangers quickly became lifelong companions. Her husband's family, the Laffeys, embraced Trish as one of their own. She shared a special bond with Robin Laffey and Donna Tracy, who stood by her side with unwavering love. Together, they formed a circle of support and affection that enriched her life immeasurably. Trish's life will be celebrated on June 4, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, located at 125 N Fayette St, Carthage, IL 62321. As we gather to remember her, we will honor the light, love, and laughter she brought into our lives. Though she is no longer with us, her legacy will live on in the smiles she inspired and the hearts she touched. While we grieve the loss of such a remarkable soul, we will find comfort in the memories of Trish's vibrant spirit and the joy she brought to our lives. As time passes, the pain of her absence will be softened by the countless fond memories she leaves behind, allowing us to remember her more often with smiles than with tears.
