Born on July 28, 1940, in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania, Patricia's life was a testament to kindness, compassion, and unwavering devotion to those she loved and the many she served throughout her remarkable 85 years.
Patricia was the beloved daughter of Robert Dean Holter and Josephine Thelma Severino. She grew up in a nurturing home alongside her siblings, her late brother Michael Holter, her brother Robert Holter, and her sister Anne Herr, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond. Her journey of love and companionship began on May 12, 1979, when she married the love of her life, Harvey Davies Grasso. Together, they built a life filled with joy, mutual respect, and countless shared memories.
A dedicated scholar, Patricia graduated from Immaculate Conception High School in Lock Haven, PA, and pursued her passion for helping others at the Misericordia Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia, PA. Her thirst for knowledge led her to earn a Bachelor of Arts and Humanities from the New College of California in San Francisco, CA. Patricia's professional life was one of selfless service; she dedicated herself to the field of nursing for over four decades, touching countless lives with her skilled hands and compassionate heart from June 2, 1959, until her retirement on January 2, 2001.
Patricia's deep faith was the cornerstone of her life. A devout member of the Catholic Church from birth, she was an active participant in the Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church community and a member of the Italian Catholic Federation. Her faith inspired her to live a life of generosity and service, always extending a hand to those in need.
In her personal time, Patricia's warmth and creativity shone brightly. She was an avid cook, her kitchen often filled with the comforting aromas of her Italian heritage. Her talents extended to crocheting and knitting, crafting beautiful pieces that were cherished by many. Patricia also found joy in gardening, nurturing her plants with the same care she bestowed upon her family and friends.
Those who had the privilege of knowing Patricia will remember her for her caring and thoughtful nature, her boundless generosity, and her supportive spirit. Her infectious sense of humor brought light and laughter to every room she entered, a testament to her enduring joy for life.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in Patricia's honor on a date to be announced at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, located at 3433 Sommerset Ave, Castro Valley, CA. Those wishing to honor Patricia's memory are encouraged to make donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital and the March of Dimes, reflecting her lifelong commitment to the well-being of children and families.
