In Loving Memory

Patricia Dawn Straight
January 7, 1931 — May 10, 2026
It is with both sadness and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Patricia Dawn Straight, who departed this world on May 10, 2026, at the age of 95. Patricia left us peacefully at her home, surrounded by the warmth and love she so generously gave throughout her long and fulfilling life.
Born on January 7, 1931, in Olean, New York, Patricia was the cherished daughter of Alonzo and Regetta (Worden) Patterson. She grew up in a loving household that instilled in her the values of kindness, community, and resilience, qualities that she carried with her throughout her life.
In 1950, Patricia married her beloved husband, Lewis William Straight, embarking on a remarkable journey that would span 71 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion, first in Buffalo and later in Syracuse, New York. Their enduring partnership was a beacon of love and strength, inspiring all who knew them. Though Patricia is now reunited with Lewis and their son Shane in eternal rest, their love story continues to be a cherished legacy for their family.
Patricia was the proud mother of three sons: Michael (Deborah), Timothy (Maria), and her late son Shane (survived by Claire). Her family blossomed to include three grandchildren, Carly (Conor McCann) Straight, Gillian (Andrew) Bemont, and Connor (Colleen) Straight, as well as two great-grandchildren, Gray and Holly Bemont. Patricia's role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was one she treasured deeply, and her family was the heart of her world.
An active member of her community, Patricia dedicated her time as a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, driven by a deep compassion for others. Her commitment to helping those in need was a testament to her generous spirit and the empathy she extended to everyone she encountered.
Patricia had a zest for life that was evident in her love for golf, a passion she shared with family and friends. Whether playing in leagues or enjoying a casual game, she found joy in the camaraderie and challenge of the sport. Her laughter and competitive spirit on the golf course were as memorable as they were infectious.
Known for her extraordinary gift of making everyone feel welcome and loved, Patricia had a warmth that drew people to her. She possessed a genuine kindness and an open heart, creating an atmosphere of care and acceptance wherever she went. Her ability to connect with others and make them feel valued was truly remarkable and leaves an indelible mark on all who were fortunate to know her.
As we bid farewell to Patricia, we celebrate her remarkable life and the love she so freely gave. Her legacy of compassion, strength, and unwavering love lives on in the hearts of her family and all who were touched by her presence. She will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.
A private family gathering will be held to honor Patricia's memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society, an organization close to her heart.
May Patricia rest in peace, forever cherished and never forgotten. Her life was a beautiful testament to the power of love, and her memory will be a blessing to all who knew her.
