In Loving Memory

Patricia Barnes
March 4, 1976 — September 1, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Patricia Barnes, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world peacefully on September 1, 2026, at Ochsner Hospital in the comforting presence of doctors who provided exceptional care.
Born on March 4, 1976, in the vibrant city of New Orleans, Louisiana, Pat lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family and community. He was the cherished son of Patrick Barnes and Mary Simon, who instilled in him the values of kindness and hard work.
Patricia's life was enriched by his loving wife, Mary, with whom he shared an incredible 50-year journey of marriage. Together, they nurtured a close-knit family, including their sons, Prince Barnes and Preston Barnes, and their seven treasured grandchildren: Gregory Davis, Troy Barnes, Tamia Barnes, Tristen Richard, Tarod Barnes, and Aaliyah Richard. Pat's family was his pride and joy, and he dedicated his life to their happiness and well-being.
A graduate of John Collins High School in 1979, Pat pursued his passion for engineering, earning a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. His career spanned 15 years as a mechanical engineer, during which he garnered numerous accolades, including several "Employee of the Year" awards at the Pop Shop in Mobile, Alabama. Beyond his professional achievements, Pat was committed to mentoring young minds, guiding them toward successful careers in mechanical engineering.
Patricia was an active member of the First Zion Baptist Church on Louisiana Avenue, where he found spiritual solace and a sense of community. He was known for his warm, infectious smile and his remarkable ability to uplift the spirits of those around him, especially children. His delightful personality and unwavering positivity were a source of comfort and joy to all who knew him.
In his leisure time, Pat found great joy in fishing, often accompanied by his beloved grandchildren. His favorite saying, "If I didn't do anything with y'all, just know we caught some fish," will echo in the hearts of his family forever.
A celebration of Patricia's life will be held on September 2, 2026, at Alabama Heritage Funeral Home, located at 10505 Atlanta Drive, Montgomery, Alabama. Services will commence at 10:00 a.m., as family and friends gather to honor a life well-lived.
