With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Patricia Ann Holycross Wise, beloved wife, mother, and friend, who departed this world on June 1, 2026, at the age of 88. Patricia passed away peacefully after a long battle with dementia, surrounded by the love of her family and in the serene comfort of familiar surroundings. Born on April 25, 1938, in the picturesque town of The Dalles, Oregon, Patricia was the precious daughter of Samuel Lester Holycross and Lola Shannon. Her early years were marked by a profound curiosity and a deep love for learning—a passion that would later define her life's work and personal pursuits. She graduated with distinction from Auburn Academy in Auburn, Washington, on May 27, 1956, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her. In March 1965, Patricia married the love of her life, Ronald Wise, embarking on a journey of love and partnership that spanned over six decades. Together, they built a life filled with warmth and joy, raising four wonderful children: Sue (Stan), Rochelle (Gerald), Scott (Cheryl), and Rick (LaRae). Although preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Lola, and her beloved daughter, Deborah Lue Wise, Patricia's legacy continues through her surviving family, who carry forward her spirit and values. Patricia's professional journey was a testament to her dedication and resourcefulness. She began her career as a librarian, nurturing a lifelong love of books and knowledge. Her talents and leadership abilities soon led her to a management role at Little Lake Industries in Calhoun, Georgia. Later, Patricia found her true calling in managing retirement facilities across the Pacific Northwest, where her compassion and unwavering commitment to others left a lasting impact. A devout and active member of the Seventh Day-Adventist Church throughout her life, Patricia's faith was a guiding light that shaped her actions and relationships. Her community felt her unwavering devotion and kindness, and she served as an embodiment of her faith's principles. Patricia's interests were as varied as they were passionate. An avid reader, she found immense joy and solace in the pages of countless books. Her keen eye and appreciation for history led to her love of antiques, especially the treasured collection of hat pins she gathered with her daughter Debbie. Her home was a reflection of her discerning taste and the stories she loved to tell through her cherished finds. Those who knew Patricia will forever remember her for her radiant smile and her boundless love for her miniature schnauzers, who brought her immense joy and companionship. Her warmth, grace, and kindness touched everyone she met, leaving behind a legacy of love and generosity. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all of Patricia's caregivers over the past five years. Their dedication and compassion ensured that her final years were filled with dignity and comfort, for which the family is eternally grateful. Patricia Ann Holycross Wise lived a life rich with love, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family, friends, and faith. As we celebrate her remarkable journey, we find comfort in knowing that her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us all. A memorial service to honor Patricia's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to share memories and celebrate a life well-lived. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Patricia's name to the Alzheimer's Association, to continue the fight against dementia. May her soul find peace and her memory be a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
