In Loving Memory

Patricia A. Hamel
February 2, 1949 — April 18, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Patricia A. Hamel, a cherished member of our family and community, on April 18, 2026, at the age of 77. Born in Mankato, Minnesota, on February 2, 1949, Patty was a beacon of warmth and joy to all who knew her.
Growing up in Ironwood, Michigan, Patty attended local schools, where she forged lifelong friendships and developed a love for the people and places that would shape her life. In 2008, she made the heartfelt decision to move to North Mankato, drawn by the desire to be closer to her beloved brother, Jerome. The siblings shared a deep bond, and her move proved to be a source of comfort and happiness for both.
Patty found great joy in her involvement with MRCI and was a vibrant participant in LEEP activities, where she particularly looked forward to the annual Fall Elegance Dance. Her enthusiasm for life was infectious, and she cherished the friendships she formed at Ecumen’s Pathstone Adult Daycare program. The bonds she built with her peers and the dedicated staff were a testament to her kind and open-hearted nature.
Among her many interests, Patty had a special affinity for bingo and karaoke, activities that brought out her lively spirit and zest for life. Her love for animals, particularly the family dogs Sky, Thor, and Lucy, was evident to all who knew her. These furry companions were a source of endless joy and comfort, and she cherished every moment spent in their company.
Patty was predeceased by her loving parents, Ubald and Sophie Hamel, and her dear brother, Jerome. Though their absence was deeply felt, Patty carried their memories with her, honoring them through her kindness and generosity.
In their time of grief, Patty’s family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Mayo Mankato, St Croix Hospice, and Ecumen Pathstone Care Facility for the exceptional care and compassion they provided. These dedicated professionals supported Patty and her family with dignity and grace, for which they are eternally grateful.
In keeping with Patty’s wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor her life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to LEEP, an organization close to Patty’s heart.
As we say goodbye to Patty, we celebrate a life well-lived, marked by love, laughter, and unwavering kindness. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. May she rest in peace, reunited with her loved ones, and forever remembered with love.
