August 26, 1933 — May 27, 2026
It is with profound sadness and tender remembrance that we announce the peaceful passing of Pat Lyn Washington on May 27, 2026, at the age of 92. Born on August 26, 1933, in Minden, Louisiana, Pat peacefully departed this life at his home, surrounded by love.
Pat was the cherished son of Lynn and Edith Washington, who predeceased him and provided him with a foundation of love and faith that would guide him throughout his life. He was also predeceased by his first wife, Della Washington, his second wife, Mandy Washington, his brother, John Washington, his sisters, Lila B., Asse Lee, and Tina, his son, Bobby Hollingsworth, his daughters, Freddie Walton and Marthella Capers, his grandson, Corey Stanford, and his beloved great-granddaughter, Legacy Stokes. Each of these dear family members held a special place in Pat’s heart and are joyously reunited with him in eternal peace.
Pat's journey of faith began at a young age at St. Rest Baptist Church, where he accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. His faith was his guiding light through life’s journey, and it shone brightly through his actions and words. After moving to Dallas, Texas, he continued his devoted service to the Lord at Carver Heights Baptist Church. There, he served as a Deacon and contributed to the church’s finance ministry, earning the respect and admiration of his church family through his wisdom, leadership, and servant’s heart.
A proud veteran, Pat served his country with honor in the United States Army. After his military service, he dedicated 25 years to Lockheed Martin as a Sheet Metal Fabricator. His meticulous craftsmanship and strong work ethic left a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of working alongside him.
Pat was a lifelong learner, receiving his formal education through the Webster Parish School System and attending Webster High School in Minden, Louisiana. His quest for knowledge led him to Theology School in Dallas, Texas, where he graduated in May 1993. His studies deepened his faith and enriched his life, allowing him to touch many with his spiritual insights.
As the patriarch of his family, Pat was a source of strength, guidance, and unconditional love. His presence brought comfort and his words offered wisdom, inspiring generations. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, hard work, and perseverance.
Pat's memory will be cherished by his surviving children, James Washington (Stephanie), Rhanona Washington, James Hollingsworth (Joyce), and Carolyn Stanford; his 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends. His life was a testament to love and devotion, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
In his leisure time, Pat enjoyed attending church, watching sports and westerns, woodworking, mastering various crafts, and spending time working in his yard. He found joy in simple pleasures and treasured every opportunity to spend time with family and friends.
