January 12, 1933 — May 29, 2026

In the quiet early hours of May 29, 2026, Pastor Lucille Freeman Hines peacefully departed this life in Lawrenceville, Georgia, at the venerable age of 93. Her life was a testament to faith, resilience, and love, leaving an indelible mark on all those privileged to have known her. Born on January 12, 1933, Lucille was the cherished daughter of the late Hurley Freeman, Sr., and Lewis H. Freeman. She grew up surrounded by a loving family, including her predeceased siblings Perleen F. Williams, Dolores F. Moore, Hurley L. Freeman, Jr., and Herbert J. Freeman. Her childhood was a nurturing ground where values of kindness and spirituality were deeply instilled. Lucille was reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Victor Hines, Jr., and their dear sons, Willie Hines, Vincent Hines, Sr., and Tony Hines, Sr. Together, they had built a family rooted in love and faith. Her heart also held the memories of her granddaughter, Felicia Hines, and her grandson, Charles Hines, Jr., who preceded her in passing. A woman of profound faith, Lucille embraced her calling as a pastor with grace and passion. Her ministry was not just a vocation but a heartfelt mission. She shepherded her congregation with unwavering devotion, transforming and touching countless lives through her compassionate guidance and unwavering belief in the power of God's love. The legacy of Pastor Lucille Hines is lovingly carried forward by her surviving family members: her devoted daughter, Victoria H. Smith of Georgia; her two sons, Charles E. Hines (LaTisha) of Alabama, and Maurice Hines of Raleigh. She leaves behind a rich tapestry of love in her 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, who will forever hold her wisdom and warmth in their hearts. Lucille's life was further enriched by her sisters, Doris F. McCoy (Marshall), Edith F. McDougal (James), and Carlin F. Johnson (Walter), whose bonds remained unbreakable over the years. Her goddaughters, Shirley Brown and Gladys Cheeks, along with sisters-in-law Betty Hines Truesdale of Raleigh, NC, and Katherine H. Hammond of Michigan, also shared in the joy and love that surrounded her life. Her extended family, church family, and an abundance of dear friends, nieces, nephews, and cousins, all mourn her passing while celebrating the love and lessons she bestowed upon them.
