Parlin "Bud" Edgar Hamlin, Jr

Parlin "Bud" Edgar Hamlin, Jr., a cherished member of the Ardmore, Tennessee community, passed away peacefully at his home on September 13, 2026. Born on February 26, 1935, in Kennett, Missouri, Bud lived a life full of love, dedication, and service. Bud was the beloved son of Opal Avery Hamlin and Parlin Edgar Hamlin, Sr. He was predeceased by his devoted parents, his late wife Shelby Hamlin, and his brother-in-law Joseph O'Malley. Bud leaves behind a loving family, including his sister Jerris O'Malley and Pamella Tidwell; his sons Paul (Pat) Hamlin and Robert (Tamara) Hamlin; his daughter Vanessa (Chris) Kanzler; his grandchildren Marc Hamlin; Dalton, Dason, and Densley Hamlin; Austin, Jackson, and Carson Kanzler; and his great-grandchildren Tyler and Benjamin Hamlin. He also leaves behind his dear companion, Faye Harris. Bud's life was marked by his commitment to service and education. After graduating from Normandy High School in 1953, he pursued further studies at Trade School, graduating in 1955. He proudly served in the Army Reserve Program for nine years as a Sergeant First Class and spent an additional ten years in the Navy Reserves as an Aviation Technician Petty Officer First Class. Professionally, Bud made significant contributions to the McDonnell Space Program, working on both the Mercury and Gemini Spacecraft programs. His career in electronics included owning a successful television repair business for 18 years and later working with tape and reel microchips until his retirement in 2008. A man of many interests, Bud was a huge fan of the Carolina Hurricanes Hockey team and the St. Louis Cardinals. His love for sports was rivaled only by his passion for dance, travel, and technology. He was known for his love of baseball and his willingness to lend a helping hand to others. Above all, he took immense pride in his family, especially his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Bud was an active member of the Union Hill Baptist Church in Ardmore, Tennessee, a place that was dear to his heart. In honoring his wishes, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Union Hill Baptist Church in lieu of flowers. A celebration of Bud's life will be held on September 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Union Hill Baptist Church in Ardmore, TN. Bud's family extends their gratitude for the love and support shown during this difficult time, and they take comfort in knowing that his legacy will continue to inspire those who knew and loved him.
