Pamela Sue Aldrich

Pamela Sue Aldrich, cherished mother, grandmother, sister, wife and friend, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2026, surrounded by her family in Michigan. Pam was born on March 15, 1952, in Marion, Ohio, to Richard Abrams and Hilda A. Bicknell. Raised in a family where love and laughter were ever-present, Pam carried these values throughout her life, enriching the lives of all who knew her. Pam spent many of her formative years mastering the art of ballet, pointe, tap, and jazz at the Martha Douce Dance Studio in Marion. She was also a senior member of the Marti-ettes Line at the studio. Her time spent at the studio helped to form life-long friendships. A proud graduate of Marion Harding High School, class of 1970, Pam embarked on a career that showcased her remarkable organizational, short-hand and typing skills. For 25 years, she served the Marion Power Shovel as a secretary in Customer Service, a role she performed with grace and efficiency. Later, she brought her talents to Fairfield Engineering, where she completed her professional career before retiring to embrace more time with her family. Pam shared 49 wonderful years with her husband, Richard (Butch) H. Aldrich, a marriage filled with love, partnership, and the joy of raising their two daughters, Shelly Radtke and Heidi Ferchert. Her daughters, along with their families Nels Radtke and Alex Escutia were the heart of Pam's world. She cherished every moment with her grandchildren, Peyton Radtke, Kipton Ferchert, Emily Escutia, and Mariah Ferchert, creating beautiful memories that will be treasured for generations. A gifted seamstress and crafter, Pam's creations were nothing short of extraordinary. Her award-winning Halloween costumes, handcrafted home goods, personalized teddy bears and blankets were a testament to her talent and creativity. Many memories were made around the piano and organ, especially during the holidays as Pam showcased her abilities. She delighted in family vacations to Florida, where laughter and adventure were always on the itinerary. An avid supporter of Marion Harding Athletics and Mt. Vernon Nazarene University, she followed her children's and grandchildren’s pursuits with enthusiasm and pride. In her later years, never missing an update on a soccer game or cross country or track & field meet if she was unable to attend for her grandchildren out of state. Pamela's quick wit and mischievous spirit were legendary among friends and family. Her ability to bring joy and laughter to any gathering was a hallmark of her character, and her presence was a source of light and happiness. Her infectious laugh will be fondly remembered by many. Pam was a member of The Moose and a supporter of the Salvation Army. Though predeceased by her parents, sister Kimberly, and husband Butch, Pam's legacy lives on in the hearts of her daughters, grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her life was a testament to kindness, lots of laughter, and love — values that will continue to inspire those she leaves behind. A celebration of life will be held and extended to close family and friends in the near future. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Corwell Health, Visiting Angels of Sterling Heights, and the Marion Cancer Center for their unwavering support and care. A special thank you to all of the family and friends who provided love and support over the years, especially, after her husband's passing and through her cancer journey. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army, an organization dear to Pam's heart.
