Pamela Penny, a beacon of warmth, generosity, and unwavering strength, peacefully passed away on April 16, 2026, at the age of 71, after a courageous five-year battle with ovarian cancer. Born on February 11, 1955, in Newport News, Virginia, Pam was a beloved wife, sister, and friend whose life was a testament to dedication, compassion, and community service. Pam was the cherished daughter of Llewelyn and Carolyn Jordan, who predeceased her, along with her beloved sister and brother-in-law, Virginia and George Georgis. Although she faced the challenges of loss, Pam's spirit remained indomitable, buoyed by the love and companionship of her devoted husband, Jim, with whom she shared over 40 years of a loving marriage. A proud and active member of the William & Mary community, Pam's contributions were profound and far-reaching. Recognized as an Honorary Alumna of the Law School, Pam's legacy at William & Mary is enduring. She was a founding member of the Society of 1918, an initiative encouraging financial support from women alumni, and she served with distinction on the William & Mary Foundation Board and the Mason Accounting Programs Board. Her generosity endowed two professorships and several scholarships, ensuring that her commitment to education continues to inspire future generations. Her dedication was honored with the prestigious Alumni Medallion in 2024, a testament to her invaluable contributions. Pam's passion for history and education extended beyond the walls of academia. She was a vital supporter of the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, where her financial contributions helped bring to life the Art Museums of Colonial Williamsburg and the Campbell Archeology Center, among many other significant projects. Her guidance as chairman of the board for Child Development Resources was instrumental as the organization reached its fundraising goals for a new building, a testament to her commitment to nurturing the potential of every child. Her leadership and philanthropic spirit also graced the Jamestown Rediscovery Foundation, where she served as both a Board of Trustees member and Treasurer, supporting numerous projects that illuminate our shared past. Pam's support of the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation helped bring to fruition the Following the Dragon Exhibition and several other exhibits, enriching the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. Pam was also an officer of the Order of St John, an ancient charitable order that epitomizes her lifelong dedication to service and compassion for others. A service to celebrate Pam's extraordinary life will be held on April 18, 2026, at 4:00 PM at the historic Bruton Parish Church, located at 201 Duke of Gloucester Street.
