Our Mother, Rose Kabeiseman

January 20, 1934 — March 15, 2026

It is with heavy hearts yet deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Our Mother, Rose Kabeiseman, who left this world peacefully on March 15, 2026, at St. James Nursing Home in Yankton, South Dakota. Born on January 20, 1934, in Yankton, Rose was a beacon of love, compassion, and resilience, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to know her. Rose was welcomed into the world by her loving parents, Ernest and Maud Burgi. Growing up in the close-knit community of Scotland, South Dakota, she was surrounded by the warmth of her family, including her half-siblings Harold and Betty Withee, and her half-sister Ann. The early loss of her sister Ann, whose mother passed away when Ann was young, instilled in Rose a profound understanding of the fragility and preciousness of life. A proud graduate of Yankton High School in 1952, Rose pursued her calling in the nursing profession at Sacred Heart Nursing School. It was during these formative years that she met the love of her life, her high school sweetheart, William Joseph Kabeiseman. They were united in marriage on December 21, 1955, and embarked on a journey of love and adventure that would span over seven decades. Soon after their wedding, Rose and William moved to Rolla, Missouri, as William pursued his Doctorate in Physics. Rose dedicated herself to the art of healing, working as a Registered Nurse at the Medical Arts Clinic, where her compassion and skill made her a cherished member of the medical community. After returning to South Dakota, she continued her career at the clinic from 1970 to 1985 before embracing her entrepreneurial spirit by opening a children’s store in 1988, which she managed with joy and dedication until her and Bill's retirement. Rose and William built a beautiful life together in Yankton, South Dakota, where they constructed a home filled with laughter, love, and countless cherished memories. Their shared passion for bridge was only rivaled by their love for their family, particularly their children, Mike (Barb Kittleson) Kabeiseman and Kathleen (John Lee). They spent countless joyful hours with their children at Lewis and Clark Lake, boating, skiing, and supporting their swimming competitions. Rose’s legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren, Matthew (Breanna) Kabeiseman, Katy and Jason Crisp, and Josh Lee, who adored her for her unwavering support and love. Her great-grandchildren, Max Kabeiseman, Jackson Crisp, Coco Lee, Izle Kabeiseman, and twins Emma and Laila Crisp, were her pride and joy, and she delighted in every moment spent with them. Rose's family tree extends further through many nieces and nephews who cherished her guidance and warmth. Preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Maud Burgi, and half-siblings Harold and Betty Withee, Rose’s memory will forever be a blessing to those she leaves behind. Her life was a testament to the power of kindness, the importance of family, and the courage to follow one's heart. A celebration of Rose's remarkable life will be held in Yankton, where friends and family will gather to honor her memory and the beautiful legacy she leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Rose's name to a charity of your choice, reflecting her spirit of generosity and love. Rose Kabeiseman will be remembered not only for the love she gave but for the strength she inspired in others. Her spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her, a lasting reminder of a life filled with love, laughter, and light.
