Ouita Juliet, a cherished mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, at the age of 81. Born on August 7, 1945, in Ferriday, Louisiana, Ouita was the beloved daughter of Joe and Maxine Bryant. She lived a life full of love and generosity, touching the hearts of all who knew her.
Ouita was a devoted nurse, dedicating her professional life to the well-being of others. As a retired BHU Registered Nurse, she was respected and loved by her colleagues and patients alike. Her compassionate nature and unwavering commitment to her work left a lasting legacy in the healthcare community.
Family was the cornerstone of Ouita's life. She was predeceased by her parents, Joe and Maxine Bryant, her sister Joann Williams, and her son, Matthew Smithart. Her memory will be forever cherished by her surviving family members: her loving sister, Jennifer Duncan, and her devoted daughter, DeeAnne Smithart Whitehead. Ouita was also a proud grandmother to Mollie W. Jordan, Maggie Christine Whitehead, and Renee Michelle Smithart. Her great-granddaughter, Samantha Richelle Moss, was a source of great joy and happiness for her.
Ouita's warmth, kindness, and wisdom were a guiding light for her family and friends. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate to have known her.
A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Ouita's life and her contributions to her family and community. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in her memory to Redemption Church, an organization close to Ouita's heart.
As we say goodbye to Ouita Juliet, we celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, service, and dedication. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
