Moses, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, who left this world peacefully on July 10, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on March 17, 1951, in Bastrop, Louisiana, Otis was the cherished son of Armelia Wonzo Moses and James Moses, both of whom preceded him in death, along with his beloved sister, Doricy Mae Scott.
Otis is survived by his devoted wife, Helen Butler Moses, with whom he shared a life filled with love and mutual respect. Together, they built a family that was Otis's pride and joy. He leaves behind his two daughters, Roshanda Williams and Jacquelyn Butler, who will forever hold dear the guidance and warmth of his fatherly embrace. Otis's legacy continues through his six grandchildren—one granddaughter and five grandsons—who were the light of his life, bringing him immense joy and laughter.
He is also survived by his loving sisters, Delores Givens, Janice Anderson, and Virginia Moses, as well as a host of nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly. Family was the cornerstone of Otis's life; he never missed an opportunity to gather with those he loved. Whether celebrating milestones or savoring the simplicity of everyday moments, Otis found fulfillment in the laughter and love shared with his family. His unwavering dedication to his loved ones was a testament to his character and the happiness he derived from simply being together.
A dedicated family man, Otis's greatest joy was spending time with those he cherished most. His warmth, kindness, and gentle spirit left an indelible mark on everyone he met. Otis's life will be celebrated on July 25, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with a service held at New Jerusalem #2, located at 1655 Martin Luther King South, Bastrop, Louisiana 71220. Friends and family are invited to join in honoring a life well lived and to share in the memories of a man whose love knew no bounds.
