Otelia passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, in her hometown of Brownsville, Texas. Born on May 3, 1957, to Guadalupe Rojas and Angela Rodriguez, Otelia was a beacon of love and compassion. Her early years in Brownsville were marked by a joyful spirit and a deep-rooted connection to her family, who she cherished wholeheartedly throughout her life. On New Year's Day in 1982, Otelia's heart found its lifelong partner in Ezequiel Velasquez. Their marriage, celebrated in Las Vegas, Nevada, was a testament to enduring love and commitment, spanning a remarkable 44 years. Together, they built a family filled with warmth and devotion, nurturing an environment that inspired and uplifted all who were fortunate enough to be part of it. Otelia's legacy is carried forward by her devoted husband, Ezequiel, and their cherished daughters, Yolanda Velasquez and Lucia Garcia. She was a proud and loving grandmother to nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, each of whom were the light of her life. Her nurturing spirit and boundless love were also shared with her brother, Roy Roger, and her dear sisters, Linda Uribe, Rosemary Aguado, and Viola Castillo. Those who knew Otelia knew her as a woman with a heart as vast as the Texas sky. Her kindness and generosity knew no bounds, and she devoted her life to her family, never missing an opportunity to express how deeply she loved each and every one of them.
