Oscar peacefully departed this world on May 14, 2026, just shy of his 94th birthday, surrounded by the love of his family in the comforting embrace of his home.
Born on May 28, 1932, in the vibrant town of Lafayette, Louisiana, Oscar was the youngest of the Walker family. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Curtis and Landry Walker, who instilled in him the values of hard work, integrity, and compassion—principles that guided him throughout his life.
Oscar's journey was one marked by extraordinary dedication and service to those around him. As a devoted husband to his beloved Margaret Walker, their marriage was a testament to unwavering love and partnership. Together, they built a life filled with joy, resilience, and mutual respect. Their home was a haven of warmth and laughter, where friends and family always felt welcome.
Oscar's greatest pride was his family, and he was a beacon of strength and wisdom to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He leaves behind a legacy of ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, each of whom carries a piece of his spirit within them. His stories, shared over countless family gatherings, were rich with lessons and humor, always leaving a lasting impression on those fortunate enough to hear them.
Throughout his life, Oscar was known for his unwavering kindness and the gentle manner in which he touched the lives of everyone he met. He was a man of simple pleasures, finding joy in nature, music, and the simple act of being present with loved ones. His laughter was infectious, and his hugs could mend the heaviest of hearts.
Oscar's commitment to his community was as steadfast as his dedication to his family. He gave generously of his time and resources, always seeking to uplift those around him. His life was a testament to the power of empathy and the importance of giving back, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
As we bid farewell to Oscar, we take solace in the knowledge that his spirit lives on in the many hearts he touched. His life was a beautiful tapestry woven with threads of love, laughter, and kindness. Though he has left this world, his legacy will endure, cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In honor of Oscar's memory, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charitable organization of your choice, reflecting Oscar's lifelong commitment to helping others.
A celebration of Oscar's life will be held at a later date, where family and friends will gather to share memories and honor the remarkable journey of a truly extraordinary man.
Rest in peace, dear Oscar. You will be forever missed and eternally loved.

The Lord's Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.
