Oscar Palacios De Luna, a cherished member of our community, passed away peacefully at his home in McAllen, Texas, on July 9, 2026, at the age of 83. Born on November 16, 1942, in Laredo, Texas, Oscar lived a life filled with love, service, and dedication to his family and friends.
Oscar was the beloved son of the late Maria Luisa Palacios De Luna and Luis De Luna. His upbringing in Laredo instilled in him the values of hard work and compassion, which he carried throughout his life. After completing high school, Oscar proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years and served 1 year overseas, a commitment that not only exemplified his love for his country but also shaped his character and resilience.
Education was important to Oscar, and he pursued higher learning diligently, earning a college degree that he put to good use in his professional endeavors. Oscar's intelligence was matched only by his friendliness and caregiving nature, qualities that endeared him to everyone he met.
Oscar found immense joy in the company of his family. He was the proud father of his daughter, Delia Molina, and his sons, Daniel and David De Luna. His legacy continues through his 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, who will always remember him as a warm and loving presence in their lives.
His hobbies and interests were simple yet profound, as he most enjoyed being surrounded by the laughter and love of his family. Known for his smart and friendly demeanor, Oscar was a beacon of kindness, always ready to lend a helping hand or share a wise word.
A service to honor Oscar's life will be held on July 20, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery, located in Mission, Texas, 78572. Family and friends are invited to come together in remembrance and celebration of a life well-lived.
