With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Orlando Elon Ware, beloved son, nephew, cousin and friend, who departed this life on July 7, 2026, at the age of 39. Orlando was born on February 6, 1987, in the charming city of Greenville, South Carolina where he first touched the lives of those around him with his infectious laughter and loving spirit. Orlando was the treasured son of Barbara Ware Hawes and the late Edgar David Payne and cherished stepfather Dennis Hawes. Preceding him in death was his father, his sister Sandrea "Prissy" Shields, his brother Jermaine Brandon Payne, and his maternal grandmother Bonnie Sullivan. Orlando is survived by his mother Barbara and stepfather Dennis, a host of devoted aunts, uncles, and cousins, and numerous close friends who became family, including Jayvon Walton, Shon Tucker, and Jerald Parker. Educated at East Hall High School in Gainesville, Orlando was known for his warmth and kindness, qualities that he carried into his professional life. His career flourished in Houston, Texas, where he dedicated over a decade to the restaurant industry as a General Manager. Orlando's passion for fostering a positive team culture and ensuring exceptional customer service was unmatched, and he took great pride in overseeing the daily operations of the establishments he led. Orlando had a zest for life that was evident in his love for fine foods and his preferance for finding joy and laughter in even the simplest moments with family and friends. His warmth and humor was soothing to those around him, and he leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories filled with laughter and love. A service to celebrate Orlando's life will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Wimberly Funeral Home, located at 325 Summit Street SE, Gainesville, Georgia. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the life of a remarkable individual who touched so many with his genuine spirit and generous heart. In keeping with his family's wishes, those who mourn Orlando's passing are reminded of the comforting promise in Matthew 5:4: "Blessed are those that mourn for they will be comforted."
