Born on a crisp winter day in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on January 20, 1979, Orlando graced this world with a presence that was both strong and gentle, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know him. Orlando was the beloved son of the late Orlando and Sarah Calhoun, who predeceased him. His parents instilled in him the values of integrity, compassion, and resilience, which he carried throughout his life. He is survived by his devoted wife, Barbara Calhoun, with whom he shared a beautiful journey filled with love and laughter. Together, they raised three remarkable children: Orlando Calhoun IV, Chrystin Calhoun, and Joshua Calhoun. Orlando's legacy continues to thrive in his cherished grandchildren, Savannah and Alexander, who brought boundless joy to his days. A proud alumnus of Southern University, Orlando graduated summa cum laude in the class of 2002 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. His passion for justice and reform led him to dedicate 23 years to the Lafayette Parish Police Department, where he rose through the ranks with distinction. Orlando was not just a highly decorated officer but also a revered member of his community. His commitment to enhancing the justice system in Lafayette earned him profound respect and admiration from colleagues and community members alike. Beyond his professional achievements, Orlando's greatest joys were his family and the simple pleasures of life. His children were the center of his world, and his grandchildren, Savannah and Alexander, shared a special place in his heart. Known for his quiet strength and a watchful eye that ensured the safety of his loved ones, Orlando was a protective and loving husband, father, and grandfather. His humor, generosity, and caring nature endeared him to many, and he will be forever remembered as a man of few words but immense love. Orlando's life was a testament to the power of dedication, love, and selflessness. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness, touching countless lives through his service and his unwavering devotion to those he loved.
