Onalee Sue Minkler

Onalee, born on September 2, 1949, in Lynwood, California, graced this world with her presence and left an indelible mark on all who knew her. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, after bravely battling Lewy body Dementia. Throughout her life, Onalee exemplified joy and kindness, touching the hearts of many. Growing up in Downey, California, Onalee was the cherished daughter of Lewis (Luke) and Leona Houtsma. She completed her education at Warren High School, where she began to cultivate the joyfulness and warmth that would define her character throughout her life. On July 15, 1967, Onalee married the love of her life, Kenneth Norman Minkler. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams, celebrating nearly 59 beautiful years of marriage. Their union was blessed with two children, Kimberlee and David. Though David predeceased her, his memory lived on in the heart of his mother, whose strength and resilience continued to inspire those around her. A devoted grandmother, Onalee found immense joy in her grandchildren, Ashlee and Jacob, and her great-grandson, Jaxin. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her family, as she was known for her joyful demeanor and unwavering kindness to others. Onalee's passion for gardening was well-known in the community. Her dedication and skill earned her awards from the city of Downey, a testament to the beauty she brought to the world through her love of nature. Her garden was not just a place of flowers and plants, but a sanctuary where her gentle spirit shone brightly. Though Onalee has left this earthly plane, her legacy of kindness and joy lives on in the hearts of her husband Kenneth, daughter Kimberlee, grandchildren Ashlee and Jacob, and great-grandson Jaxin. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved son David, and we find comfort in knowing they are reunited. In accordance with her wishes, a final private family gathering was held by her bedside. Onalee’s life was a beautiful tapestry of love, resilience, and grace. She will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
