Born on March 26, 1990, in Lawrence, Massachusetts, Omar's journey through life was marked by resilience, love, and a passion for music that touched the hearts of many. Omar was the beloved son of John Grant and Nathan Raines, who nurtured his vibrant spirit and encouraged his dreams. He is survived by his cherished sibling, Angel Grant-Raines, and his precious daughter, Halo Grant-Raines, who will forever carry his legacy in their hearts. Omar also leaves behind a wealth of fond memories with his dear friends, including Kelly Cook and family, along with numerous loving aunts, uncles, and cousins who were touched by his kindness and humor. Education was a path of exploration for Omar, who attended Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School and proudly earned his GED. His professional life was diverse, as he dedicated himself to various labor and landscaping positions, where his diligent work ethic and friendly demeanor left an indelible impression on all who had the pleasure of working alongside him. Omar's true passion, however, was music. With a voice that could stir the soul, he ventured to Nashville to pursue vocal and music classes, hoping to share his gift with the world. His love for music was a testament to his vibrant spirit, and his performances brought joy and inspiration to many. Beyond his musical talents, Omar was a devoted animal lover, whose gentle heart cared deeply for creatures big and small. Those who knew Omar will remember him as a fiercely loyal friend, whose unwavering support and infectious positivity brightened their days. Despite the trials of a challenging childhood, Omar carried his scars with grace, choosing to approach life with an upbeat and hopeful outlook. His compassionate nature and the warmth he shared with those around him will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. A celebration of Omar's life will be held on June 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the Cambridge Cemetery, located at 76 Coolidge St, Cambridge, MA. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the beautiful soul that Omar was, sharing stories and memories that will forever keep his spirit alive. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Omar's memory to St. Jude’s, an organization close to his heart, at www.stjudes.org.
