Oliver Nelson

Oliver Nelson entered this world on August 28, 1941, in the warm embrace of Sanford, Florida, cradled by the loving arms of his mother, Annie Lee Floyd. With a heart full of love and a spirit as vibrant as the sunlit skies of his birth city, Oliver graced this earth for 85 years before departing on September 12, 2026, to be in the presence of the Lord. A self-made man, Oliver built a life centered on helping others. His career as a self-employed individual wasn't just about the work he accomplished but the lives he touched along the way. To many, he was a beacon of positivity and a source of encouragement, always ready with a helping hand. Oliver's laughter was a symphony of joy, often resonating as the loudest in any gathering. His boisterous spirit was matched by his catchphrase, "Child, please, I'm not going to let you worry me," a testament to his lighthearted and resilient nature. He was a man who found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as watching westerns, football games, and his favorite TV shows, "Wheel of Fortune" and "Jeopardy." His legacy is carried forward by his cherished family: his granddaughters, Tamesha Hamilton and Mathurina Mesidor, and his grandsons, Brandon Winn and Matthew Hamilton. Oliver also leaves behind his beloved great-grandchildren, Amir Rivers (affectionately known as Big Daddy), Mylee Mesidor, Amaree Sims, and Princess Hall. They, along with a host of family and friends both near and far, will forever remember the warmth and wisdom he imparted. In honoring Oliver's memory, the family kindly suggests donations be made to a charity of one's choice, reflecting his generous spirit and lifelong commitment to helping others. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and the dedicated team of dialysis technicians on Lee St who cared for Oliver. Their compassion and support during his final days brought immense comfort to him and his loved ones. As we bid farewell to Oliver, we take solace in the belief that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. His laughter and love will forever echo in our hearts, a reminder of a life well-lived and a soul deeply cherished.
