Odin Bliss

It is with profound sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Odin Gabriel Bliss, lovingly known as “Odie Gabriel,” on May 31, 2026, at the age of 26. Born on October 19, 1999, in Guilford, Vermont, Odin was a deeply sensitive, intelligent, and compassionate soul whose warmth, humor, and creativity touched everyone fortunate enough to know him. He brought laughter, wit, wisdom, and kindness wherever he went, and he truly wanted to make the world a better place. Odin loved Vermont and cherished growing up surrounded by forests, mountains, and nature. As a child, he spent countless hours swimming, hiking, exploring the woods, and discovering the beauty of animals, insects, plants, and the natural world around him. He especially loved spending time adventuring with his brother and visiting the ocean, particularly Cape Cod, which brought him peace and happiness. Gifted with extraordinary creativity, Odin was an artist, writer, poet, musician, comedian, and deep thinker. He loved drawing, music, video games, reading, gardening, cooking, and meaningful conversations. He was a gifted self-taught guitar player who wrote heartfelt songs and could whistle beautifully like a songbird. Some of his happiest moments were cooking meals and gardening alongside his family. Odin approached life with curiosity, imagination, and sincerity. He cared deeply for people, animals, and the environment and often spoke about wanting peace, kindness, and understanding in the world. One of his favorite sayings was, “What could be better than a beautiful sunny day and having ice cream with someone you love?” He demonstrated resilience and determination throughout his life, earning his GED at the age of 17. Odin carried a strong work ethic and found purpose in caring for others through his work. He worked for Mount Snow, the Marlboro Music Festival, The Vermont Table, KampFires, and several restaurants throughout southern Vermont. He was excited and honored about his newest job with Burk Family Garden & Landscape, he loved flowers and plants and landscaping brought him great joy! Whether cooking meals, serving ice cream, landscaping, or helping others however he could, Odin brought heart and dedication to everything he did. More than any achievement, Odin was proud of helping animals, caring for people, creating music, making delicious food for others, and most of all persevering through life’s challenges with courage and heart. He taught those around him dedication, loyalty, forgiveness, endurance, sincerity, and the importance of never giving up. To his family, Odin was a precious, unique, and deeply sensitive soul who brought hope, perseverance, laughter, and unconditional devotion into their lives. He made people feel seen, valued, understood, and cared for. His beautiful smile, inspiring wisdom, contagious laughter, gentle whistle, and loving heart will never be forgotten. Odin is survived by his devoted mother, Janice; stepfather, Chris; brother, Griffin; sister, Mazy; stepmother, Abby; parental mentors, grandparents, along with many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, extended friends and family members, and his three beloved cats. Though Odin’s life was tragically cut short, the love he gave and the impact he made will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed, endlessly cherished, and forever loved. Memorial service information will be announced at a later date.
