With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Odell Eugene McKelvey Jr., a beloved husband, father, son, and friend, who departed this world, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Born on March 13, 1970, in Jersey City, New Jersey, Odell was the proud son of Odell Eugene McKelvey Sr. and Dyane Russell. He was a man of boundless kindness and intelligence, whose gentle nature and contagious laughter touched all who had the privilege of knowing him. Odell spent his formative years in Atlanta, where he attended Therrell High School. His passion for working with his hands led him to the apprentice program for Plumbers, Local 72. A master plumber by trade, Odell took immense pride in his work, contributing his skills to various contracting companies including McKinny's, P.I.E., and ART Plumbing. His colleagues and clients alike admired his dedication, problem-solving abilities, and refusal to rely on instructions, preferring instead to figure things out on his own. In 1991, Odell married his soulmate, Michelle Lewis, in Powder Springs, Georgia. Together, they cultivated a loving home and raised two beautiful daughters, Kyane, married to Leon, and Portia. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love, spanning 35 years filled with shared dreams, laughter, and unwavering support. Odell was a man of many interests. He found joy in flying drones, playing paintball, and coaching little league football at Gresham Park in Decatur, Georgia. His enthusiasm for football was infectious, and his knowledge of politics profound. Yet, it was his unique laugh and gentle wit that endeared him most to those around him. A devoted son, Odell leaves behind his cherished mother, Dyane Russell Williams, his sister Roslyn, and numerous friends and family members who will forever hold him in their hearts. A service to celebrate Odell's remarkable life will be held on August 15, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at William Gayleano Murray & Son Funeral Home, located at 923 McDaniel St. SW, Atlanta, GA 30310.
