In Loving Memory
O.B. Range
April 28, 1929 — March 31, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of O.B. Range, who departed this world on March 31, 2026, at the age of 96. He peacefully transitioned surrounded by the love and comfort of his family, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, service, and unwavering dedication.
Born on April 28, 1929, in the small, close-knit community of Kaufman, Texas, O.B. was the cherished son of Fred and Lillie Mae Range. As the youngest in a large family, he was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved siblings: sisters Willie Lou, Helen Berry, Gloria D. Henderson, and Elnora Bean Tolbert, and brothers JW Range, Forest J Range, Vernon Range, Roger L. Range, and Fred Range Jr. Their memories and spirits remained with him throughout his life.
O.B.'s journey through life was marked by a steadfast commitment to his country, family, and community. In January 1951, he answered the call to serve in the United States Army, where he honorably defended our nation during the Korean War. His bravery and dedication during those years exemplified the courage and fortitude that would define his entire life.
On August 15, 1956, O.B. was united in holy matrimony to Jeraldine Bennett, a union that became the cornerstone of a loving family. Together, they nurtured their two daughters, Gerri Gail Jacobs and Yvette Range, instilling in them the values of compassion, perseverance, and integrity.
O.B.'s professional career was equally distinguished. For over two decades, he brought joy to many through his work at Carnation ice cream company, later transitioning to a fulfilling role at Kaiser Permanente Hospital, from which he eventually retired. His colleagues remember him for his tireless work ethic and genuine kindness.
Beyond his professional and familial commitments, O.B. found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He held a deep-seated passion for the game of golf, a pastime that provided both challenge and solace. On the greens, he formed lasting friendships and enjoyed countless hours of camaraderie.
O.B.'s legacy is carried forward by his daughters, Gerri and Yvette, his three adoring grandchildren, Lee Crawford, Gregory R. Crawford, and Kennedy J. Howard, and his three great-grandchildren, who were the light of his later years. His gentle spirit, generosity, and wisdom will continue to guide them and all who knew him.
O.B. Range lived a life that was a testament to love, loyalty, and service. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we find comfort in knowing that his spirit will forever reside in the hearts of those he touched. May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with the family who went before him, and may his memory be a blessing to all who loved him.
A celebration of O.B.'s life will be held at a later date, where stories will be shared, and his remarkable journey will be honored. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to a veterans' organization of choice, continuing his lifelong commitment to those who serve.
