Nuku Alofa
August 10, 1942 — November 5, 2024
It is with profound sorrow and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of our beloved Nuku Alofa, who departed this world on November 5, 2024, at Yeo Hospital. Born on August 10, 1942, in California, Nuku’s 82 remarkable years were a testament to a life filled with love, laughter, dedication, and resilience.
Nuku was born to Hulk and Simon Nit, who instilled in him the values of hard work and compassion. He carried these virtues throughout his life, influencing everyone he encountered. Preceded in death by his cherished children, Bernie, at the tender age of 11, and Kira, at 16, Nuku bore these losses with remarkable strength and grace, finding solace in the love of his surviving family, including his devoted wife, Joan, of 45 wonderful years.
In 1966, Nuku married his beloved Janet Ping on April 10, marking the beginning of a beautiful partnership that would see them through life's many seasons. Together, they built a family grounded in love and understanding, a legacy that will continue through his one grandchild and three great-grandchildren.
Nuku was a man of diverse accomplishments. Educated in 1958, he served his country with honor from 1974 to 1976, a period that deepened his sense of duty and commitment. Over his 58-year career, he worked tirelessly across various jobs, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues and friends alike. His active participation in numerous organizations and memberships showcased his dedication to community and service.
Beyond his professional life, Nuku was known for his wit and warmth, traits that endeared him to all who knew him. He had a passion for relaxing, finding joy in life’s simple pleasures and sharing laughter with family and friends.
A service to honor Nuku’s life will be held on November 19, 2024, at 2:00 PM at the Marsden Chickhouse, located at 6, Carls Way. The family graciously requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to a charity of your choice, in Nuku’s memory, to continue his legacy of giving.
The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to the dedicated staff who cared for Nuku with tenderness and professionalism during his final days.
As we bid farewell to Nuku, may we find comfort in the indelible mark he left on our hearts and the world. His spirit will live on in the laughter of his great-grandchildren, the stories we share, and the love that binds us together.
