Norris O'Neal, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2026, at the age of 93. Born on August 23, 1932, to Doyle and Thelma O'Neal, Norris lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to his family and community.
Norris was a man who never met a stranger. His quick wit and warm smile left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered. A true embodiment of kindness and generosity, he was always ready with a story or a helping hand. His spirit and humor were infectious, making him a cherished friend to many.
On September 1, 1956, Norris married the love of his life, Mary Denicola O'Neal. Their union was blessed with two sons, Kenneth O'Neal, married to Jean, and Byron O'Neal. Norris took immense pride in his family and cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren Jennifer LeJeune, Terri Thibodaux, and Lauren Conger, married to Robert, and his six great-grandchildren, who brought him endless joy.
Norris enjoyed a fulfilling career with the General Service Administration, where he was known for his dedication and work ethic. Despite his professional commitments, he always made time for his passions, including working on the family farm, traveling, and gardening. These activities brought him peace and happiness, and he often shared these joys with his family, creating precious memories that will be treasured forever.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary, his sons and their families, as well as his siblings Marvin O'Neal, married to JoAnn, Larry O'Neal, and Jean Mobley, married to Charles. He was predeceased by his parents, Doyle and Thelma O'Neal, and his dear sister, Marilyn Haygood.
A service to celebrate Norris's life will be held on July 11, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Greenoaks Funeral Home, located at 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor a man who touched so many lives with his generous heart and unwavering love.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Norris's memory to a charity of choice, reflecting his spirit of giving and his commitment to making the world a better place.
Norris O'Neal will be remembered not only for the life he led but for the love he gave and the lives he touched. His legacy of kindness and family devotion will continue to inspire all who knew him.
