It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Norman M. Head, a beloved member of the Greene County community, who departed this life on October 5, 2026, at the age of 77. Born on January 15, 1949, Norman was the cherished son of Norman "Bye" Head and Esther Chase Head.
Norman spent his formative years in Greene County, where he learned the values of kindness, dedication, and community service from his parents. He carried these values with him throughout his life, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met. Educated at Herbert W. Armstrong Bible College, Norman embarked on a career as a teacher in the healthcare industry. His passion for education and helping others was evident in his work, as he inspired countless students and colleagues with his wisdom and compassion.
A man of great integrity and commitment, Norman served as the Treasurer and a member of the Board of Directors for Contentnea Health. His dedication to the organization and his community was unwavering, and he was always eager to lend a helping hand.
Norman's life was enriched by his love for giving back to his community. Whether through his professional work or personal endeavors, he was always seeking ways to make a positive impact on those around him. His generous spirit and kind heart will be dearly missed.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents; his son; his brothers, Jimmy Ray Head and Lloyd "Howard" Head; and his special niece, Wanda Kay Smith. He leaves behind a loving family who will continue to honor his legacy: brothers Tommy Head and wife Katie, Donny Head and wife Sheryl, and George Head, along with sister-in-law Shirley Head, all of Snow Hill. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who adored him.
A service to celebrate Norman's life will be held on October 10, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Snow Hill Cemetery, located on NC Highway 258 in Snow Hill, NC. Family, friends, and community members are invited to join in remembering and honoring the life of a man who touched so many.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Norman's memory to the Eastern NC School for the Deaf, located in Wilson, NC. This organization was close to Norman's heart, and supporting it would be a meaningful tribute to his legacy of compassion and service.
Norman M. Head will be remembered for his selfless dedication to others, his unwavering faith, and the love he gave so freely. His life was a testament to the power of kindness and the difference one person can make in the world.
