Norman Jay, a vibrant soul whose presence lit up every room, passed away on July 8, 2026, at the age of 47. Born on April 4, 1979, in the quaint town of Brooksville, Florida, Norman was a cherished son of Norman and Gretchen Pingley. His life was a testament to love, dedication, and an unyielding commitment to those he held dear. Norman, known affectionately as Jay to his closest friends and family, grew up in Brooksville, where he forged lifelong friendships and developed a zest for life. A proud graduate of Hernando High School's class of 1997, Jay pursued higher education with an unwavering passion, earning degrees from Pasco-Hernando Community College and Western Carolina University. During his time at Western Carolina, he became a cherished member of the Sigma Chi fraternity, where he cultivated bonds that would last a lifetime. Jay was a devoted father whose love for his children, Jackson and Ali Claire, was boundless. His life's work was guided by the joy and pride he found in watching them grow and thrive. His children were his greatest achievements, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Professionally, Jay was known for his exceptional ability to connect with people from all walks of life. His career took him on extensive travels, where he was celebrated for his dedication, hard work, and the grace with which he handled every situation. Jay had the unique gift of making everyone he met feel like a friend, and his kindness and generosity left an indelible mark on the hearts of many. In addition to his children, Jay is survived by his loving sisters, Lori Williams, along with her spouse Billy Williams, and Leslie Pingley with her partner Eric Williams. His nephew, Luke Drenth, and niece, Greta Drenth, will forever hold dear the cherished memories they shared with their beloved uncle. Jay's life was filled with laughter, adventure, and an infectious joy that made him larger than life. He embraced every moment with an open heart and a spirit that inspired those around him. A service to celebrate Jay's remarkable life will be held on August 8, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Faith Presbyterian Church, located at 200 Mt. Fair Ave., Brooksville, FL 34601. Friends and family are invited to gather to honor a life well-lived and to share in the beautiful legacy he leaves behind. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to a charity of your choice in Jay's name. His spirit will live on in the love he shared and the countless lives he touched. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
