Norma Roger’s McConis

It is with profound sadness and deep respect that we announce the passing of Norma Roger’s McConis, who departed this world peacefully on August 3, 2026, at the age of 99. Born on October 14, 1926, in the close-knit community of Camden, Alabama, Norma lived a life as rich and vibrant as the gardens she so lovingly tended. Norma was the cherished daughter of the late Roy Rogers and Beatrice Bachman Rogers. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Gilbert Rogers, Vincent Lee Rogers, David Lee Rogers, Rodney Earl Rogers, and Lilly Bell Rogers Logan. Norma also mourned the loss of her beloved son, Willie James “CoCo” McConis Jr., and her grandson, Titus Rogers Friason. Norma leaves behind a legacy of love and resilience, survived by her devoted sister, Ethel “Snookie” Rogers Smith, and her children—Betty Rogers Cook, Shirley Rogers, Debra Rogers Kelly, Mildred Rogers Friason, and Alfred (Kathy) Rogers. She was the proud grandmother of numerous grandchildren and was blessed with 58 great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the values and spirit she instilled in them. Norma’s hands were never idle, and her heart was never closed. A talented seamstress, she transformed her home into a clothing gallery, crafting exquisite wedding dresses and evening gowns that brought joy and beauty to many. Her commitment to her craft was matched only by her dedication to her faith, as an active member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church and a cherished voice in the church choir. An avid gardener, Norma delighted in the simple pleasures of life, nurturing her garden, and preserving its bounty through canning, a testament to her industrious and nurturing nature. Her life stands as a powerful reminder that true fulfillment is found in nurturing deep human connections, anchoring oneself in faith, and celebrating every moment with love. A service to honor and celebrate Norma’s extraordinary life will be held on August 15, 2026, at 12:00 PM at the Zion Star Missionary Baptist Church, located at 254 3rd Ave SW, Birmingham, AL 35211. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the UAB Staff for the compassionate care rendered to their beloved matriarch. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that contributions be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting the generous spirit with which Norma lived her life. Norma Roger’s McConis touched countless lives with her grace, strength, and unwavering love.
