Norma Jean "Granny" Stewart

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Norma Stewart, who left this world peacefully at her home on July 18, 2026. Born on October 6, 1940, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Norma was a treasured wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering devotion to God, her family and community will be deeply missed. Norma was the cherished wife of Lonnie "Wayne" Stewart Sr., with whom she shared 66 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. She was a devoted mother to Lonnie Stewart Jr. (Susan), Byron Stewart (Kelly), Becky Price (Scott), and Phyllis Callahan (Joel). Her legacy extends through her grandchildren, Lauren Madison (Brad), Cassie Booluck, Randy Price (Jade), Holley Wheeler, Hillary Wheat (Dalton), Elizabeth Stewart (Kyle), and Hayley Callahan, as well as her great-grandchildren, Connor Blalock, Ethan Madison, Baylor Dufrene, Lorelia Dufrene, Holden Wheat, Bennett Wheat, Macy Wheat, Kyler Booluck, Cayden Wheeler, Avery Wheeler, Matilda Fitzpatrick, and Wyatt Price. Norma is also survived by her siblings, Diane Heard, Pat Dungan, Alvin Dungan, Carolyn Cooper, and Butch Grenada. She was predeceased by her parents, Samuel and Edna Dungan, and her siblings Jaunita Dunaway, Joan Beverson, Edna Earl Milton, and Thomas Dungan, with whom she is now joyfully reunited. Norma was an active and beloved member of Zoar Baptist Church, where she found great joy in singing with the choir. Her passion for community service was evident in her instrumental role in running the pottery ministry at Zoar, where she touched many lives with her creativity and kindness. More than anything, Norma treasured her family. She relished in celebrating milestones and cheering on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, creating memories that will be cherished for generations to come. Her compassionate spirit and dedication to family were the cornerstones of her life... A service to honor and celebrate Norma's life will be held on July 25, 2026, at 12:00 PM at Greenoaks Funeral Home, located at 9595 Florida Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70815. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice, reflecting Norma’s generous spirit and love for helping others. The Stewart family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Hospice Specialist of Louisiana and The Claiborne at Shoecreek. Their kindness, dedication, and support brought comfort to Norma and her family and will always be remembered with heartfelt appreciation. Norma Stewart's legacy of love, faith, and family will forever live on in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
