With heavy hearts and profound gratitude for her life, we announce the peaceful passing of Norma M. Scaramo on August 3, 2026, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family. Born on March 26, 1936, in SE Washington D.C., Norma was a cherished daughter to Michael Thomas Minor Stevens and Margaret Philmena Thomas. Her journey through life was marked by love, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community. Norma was blessed with two loving marriages, first to Lawrence W. Heesh on June 25, 1951, and later to Ralph J. Scaramo on April 4, 1988. Together, they built a family filled with love and laughter. Norma was a devoted mother to Lawrence W (Lisa), Mary Ellen Harmon (Thomas), George (Wendy), Robert (Diane), Martin (Carol), Tina Heesh, and David (Carol). Her legacy continues through her 12 beloved grandchildren, including Jamie Heesh (Corrine), Jessica Heesh-Mensack (Andrew), Alexis Doniker (Charles), Thomas Harmon (Theresa), Heather Harmon (Harley), Jesse Heesh (Amber), Crystal Gonzon (Joseph), Joseph Gonzon, Mandi Heesh, Kevin Heesh, Taylor Heesh, Jesse Todd (Amber), Zachery Heesh (Morgan) as well as 32 great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy. Norma was preceded in death by her siblings Michael T. Stevens, Margaret C. Bach, Charles R. Stevens, Betty W. Stevens, Warren H. Stevens, Milton J. Stevens, her beloved son, Lawrence W Heesh Jr, and her beloved grandson Reese D. Heesh. Norma's spirit is now reunited with those she loved and missed dearly. She is survived by her siblings Nancy Celenza (Edward), Richard Stevens (Bonnie), and Diane Swink, who will continue to cherish her memory. Norma's graduated from Jefferson Jr High in Southwest Washington D.C. laid the foundation for her lifelong passion for crafts. Her talents as a ceramic painter, quilter, and crocheter were well-known, and she generously shared her skills by teaching classes at Polytec Adult Learning and Luther Village in Dover, Delaware. Norma's artistic creations were a testament to her patience and creativity, bringing companionship, beauty and warmth to all who participated at them. Her warm, beautiful smile could light up any room, and her readiness to lend a helping hand, whether through preparing food or joining in a new adventure, was a hallmark of her generous spirit. Norma's presence was both comforting and inspiring, and her legacy of kindness will endure in the hearts of those who knew her. A service to celebrate Norma's life will be held on August 17, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Torbert Funeral Chapel, located at 1145 East Lebanon Road, Dover, Delaware. The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff at Bayhealth Kent ICU Unit, Dover, Delaware, for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Norma's memory to The Lawrence "Larry" Heesh Strength, Courage & Opportunity Scholarship, honoring her commitment to supporting others in their journey towards strength and opportunity. Norma M. Scaramo's life was a testament to love, resilience, and creativity. She leaves behind a legacy of cherished memories, and her spirit will continue to inspire all who knew her. She will be deeply missed, yet fondly remembered, by her family and friends.
