Norma Jean Carey

In loving memory of Norma Jean Carey, who graced this world on July 19, 1943, in Beaumont, Texas, and departed peacefully on September 12, 2026. Norma was a beacon of love, wisdom, and strength to all who knew her. Born to L.O. and Rose Redman, she was cherished by her family and friends, leaving a lasting impact on countless lives. Norma's life was a testament to her unwavering commitment to her family, faith, and community. She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved daughter Ieka Bell, her devoted husband Adolf Carey, her former husband Harold Norman Bell Sr., her sisters Ello McClannhan and Katie Parker, and her nephew Todd Phillips. Their memories live on in those who continue to celebrate Norma's legacy. She is survived by her devoted sons, Harold N. Bell Jr., Damon Bell, and Khan Bell Sr., along with her bonus children, Davida Bell, Cordell Bell, and Kilamanjaro Bell. Her grandchildren, Hershanna Bell, Diamond Stephens, Glenika Powell, Noble Bell, and Khan Kenyatta Bell, will always remember her warmth and kindness. Norma's nephew, Bryon Phillips (Celeste), and nieces, Mildred Mayfield, Joann Phillips (Ricky), Bernadette Demouchett (Derrick), and Donna McClannhan, held a special place in her heart. Her brothers-in-law, Chester, Aaron, Robert Carey, and Donald McClannahan, as well as her cherished daughters-in-law, Michelle Bell and Perline Bell, were also dear to her. Among her special friends were Sis Shirley, Sis Janet, Sis Bob, and Sis Cassandra, who shared many joyful moments with her. Norma attended Beaumont schools and graduated from BISD in 1978. Her passion for nurturing young minds led her to a fulfilling career as a Nursery School Teacher at Jackson Daycare. There, she cultivated strong bonds with her students, many of whom returned as adults to visit the woman who had guided and inspired them. A devoted member of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church for 43 years, Norma served faithfully under Reverend Oval Walker III. Her dedication to her church community was a testament to her faith and commitment to service. Norma's life was marked by her love for caring for others, a passion for shopping, and a fondness for having her nails done. Known for her stern but loving talks, she possessed a warm smile and a generous heart that touched everyone she encountered. Her ability to make others feel loved, welcomed, and valued will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. A service to honor Norma's life will be held on September 19, 2026, at 10:00 PM at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, located at 2120 Renaud St, Beaumont, TX 77703. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Baptist Hospital ICU and Community Funeral Home for their compassionate care and support during this difficult time.
