Seattle, Washington—It is with heavy hearts yet enduring gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the peaceful passing of Norma Gail Richards, who left this world in her sleep on April 30, 2026, at the age of 91. A beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Norma was a remarkable figure whose kindness, wisdom, and love left an indelible mark on all who knew her. Born on June 12, 1934, in Seattle, Washington, Norma was the cherished daughter of Doris Stevenson and Robert Cottingham. From an early age, she exhibited a bright spirit and a deep sense of compassion, qualities that would define her life's journey. Norma's unwavering dedication to her family was the cornerstone of her existence, and her legacy of love and resilience will continue to inspire generations. In 1952, Norma married the love of her life, Robert Allen Richards, embarking on a partnership that would span decades until his passing. Together, they raised a family that became the center of Norma's universe. Though predeceased by her beloved husband Robert, her daughters Linda Kathleen Hanby and June Marie Turner, and her parents, Norma's memory will forever be cherished by those she leaves behind. Norma is survived by her devoted daughter Barbara A. Kolvick, her loving son Edward C. Richards and his wife Julie, and her caring son Robert A. Richards II. Her nurturing spirit lives on in her eight grandchildren: Crystal & Craig Voelker, Crowell (Chip) Jewell, Jason & Ivonne Turner, Melissa & Kenneth Silsbee, Alton & Negin Butler, Amberly & Michael Duncan, Anthony & Samantha Kolvick, and Haley Richards. They, along with Norma's 17 great-grandchildren and her three precious great-great-grandchildren, Lillyann (Lilly) Jewell, Rosalina (Rosie) Garcia, and Isabella (Izzy) Garcia, reflect the rich tapestry of her family's love. Norma's life was a testament to the enduring power of love and family. Her home was a sanctuary of warmth, laughter, and comfort—a place where everyone felt welcomed and cherished. She delighted in family gatherings, where she often shared stories that bridged generations, ensuring her family's history was known and celebrated. Beyond her devotion to her family, Norma was known for her gentle spirit and generous heart. She found joy in volunteering at local community centers and was a passionate advocate for education, believing in the potential of every child to achieve greatness. Her legacy will be carried forward by the lives she touched and the values she instilled in her family. As we say goodbye to our dear Norma, we celebrate a life filled with love, kindness, and an unwavering commitment to family. Her memory will be a guiding light for those she leaves behind, a reminder of the strength that comes from love and the bonds that connect us all. A private family service will be held to honor Norma's life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Norma's name to a children's educational charity of your choice, ensuring that her passion for learning and growth continues to benefit future generations.
