It is with profound sadness and heartfelt respect that we announce the passing of Nomvuyo Victoria Jara, a beloved matriarch, on September 4, 2026. Born on the 1st April, 1943. Born to Eliot Maphendle Mabanya and Nomzamo Salvinett Mabanya, Nomvuyo knon to everyone as Granny lived a life rich in love, dedication, and service.
Nomvuyo was a devoted wife to her late husband, Edwin Ngubelanga Jara. Together, they created a nurturing and loving home in Butterworth, raising their children with unwavering principles. She was predeceased by her husband, her sons Andile and Velile Jara, and her precious tween babies.
Her surviving children, Sheilla and Nombulelo Jara, along with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, carry her legacy forward, embodying the values she instilled in them.
Her life's journey was marked by a steadfast commitment to education, family, and community. Nomvuyo began her educational path at PhePheni and Gillepies High School, later pursuing a nursing course at Showbury. In 2011, she proudly graduated from the Department of Social Development's Early Childhood Development program. Her passion for nurturing young minds led her to establish Winnie Day Care Center, where she served as principal, touching countless lives until her passing.
Nomvuyo's professional life was as diverse as it was inspiring. A young mother, she worked in retail firms and was a successful businesswoman, running a spaza shop from her home. Her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to early childhood education left an indelible mark on her community.
A woman of principle, Nomvuyo was known for her warm heart and peacemaking spirit. Her family, including 13 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren, cherished her deeply, finding solace in her love and wisdom. Her siblings, three sisters and one brother, remember her as a pillar of strength and kindness.
As we bid farewell to a remarkable woman, the family shares this special message: "LALA Ngoxolo Mangwane, Hlongwane, Masengwa-yisileke, Ndukuzinobulongwe ngasemva, Landle olubomvu oluwelwa zinkonjane kuphela!!!"
