In Loving Memory

Nina Mae Bushong Rich Peacock
November 3, 1941 — October 29, 2026
In loving memory of Nina Mae Bushong Rich Peacock, who departed this world peacefully at her home on October 29, 2026, surrounded by the warmth of her cherished family. Born on November 3, 1941, in St. Louis, Missouri, Nina was the beloved daughter of Fern and Clarence Bushong, who, along with her brothers Gary, Raymond, and Clarence Jr., and sisters Audrey Johnson and Gloria Salmeri, predeceased her. Her legacy, however, lives on through her loving family and the countless lives she touched.
Nina graduated from Mt. Vernon Township High School in 1959. She continued her education at Rend Lake College, immersing herself in art classes both there and at Cedarhurst in Mt. Vernon, nurturing a passion for art that would flourish throughout her life.
In 1977, alongside her husband Don, Nina embarked on a new chapter when they acquired Myers the Printer and together founded Peacock Printing, a family-owned business that continues to thrive under the stewardship of her granddaughter, Lacy Evrard, and her husband, Daniel. Nina's entrepreneurial spirit was matched only by her artistic talents, as she excelled in painting, metal-smithing, jewelry making, ceramics, and sculpture. Her home stands as a testament to her creativity, a gallery showcasing her impressive body of work.
A devoted mother and grandmother, Nina is survived by her daughters Jamie Longmire (John) and Carrie Smith (Mark), her son Donnie Peacock (Catherine), and her cherished grandchildren Trevor Groh, Alec Groh, Rita Groh, Lacy Evrard, Adrian Peacock, Grant Smith, William Peacock, and eight great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister, Donna Richards, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Nina's nurturing spirit extended beyond her family. She was a dedicated Girl Scout Leader and an active organizer at Hall School, serving as a beacon of leadership and inspiration. Her involvement in numerous clubs and as a two-term president of the Jefferson County Business and Professional Women's Federation underscored her commitment to community service.
Her personal sanctuary was her garden—a vibrant tapestry of flowers with a hand-built labyrinth and a serene koi pond, where she found peace and inspiration. Nina's warmth, honesty, kindness, and generosity were the foundations upon which her family and friendships were built, inspiring those around her to pursue their own passions.
In honoring Nina's life, the family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to SSM Health at Home Hospice for their compassionate care and support during her final days. A ceremony will be held to celebrate the life of this remarkable woman.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly encourages donations in Nina's memory to a charity of your choice, honoring her spirit of generosity and love for the arts. Nina Mae Bushong Rich Peacock's legacy will continue to illuminate the paths of all who knew and loved her.
