It is with a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of Nicolas D. Gomez, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to many. Nicolas departed this world on May 16, 2026, at the age of 89, in Highlands, Texas, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. His heart, as full of love in passing as it was in life, succumbed to a broken heart, reuniting him with his beloved Maria Antonia, who predeceased him.
Born on November 9, 1936, in General Teran, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, Nicolas was the cherished son of Salvador and Maria Santos. From the verdant landscapes of Mexico to bustling communities in Texas, he carried with him the values of kindness, hospitality, and deep devotion to family. Nicolas was a devoted Catholic, finding solace and strength in his faith, which he practiced with a heart as open as his arms.
On January 15, 1959, in Reynosa, Mexico, Nicolas married the love of his life, Maria Antonia Campos. Their marriage, a remarkable journey spanning 66 years, was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Sergio Gomez, married to Carey; Maria Gomez; and Rene Gomez, together with his girlfriend Christie. They built a home filled with love, laughter, and the vibrant energy of their expanding family.
A proud and diligent worker, Nicolas dedicated many years as a Local Union 84 Ironworker. His strong work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident to all who worked alongside him. Beyond his career, Nicolas was known for cultivating a beautiful yard, a reflection of his appreciation for nature’s beauty and his meticulous care.
Nicolas was blessed with six grandchildren: Angie Gomez, Jennifer Ferreris with her wife Arelis, Bryan Gomez with his girlfriend Taylor, Bradley Gomez with his wife Stacie, Nicholas Gomez, and Carmen Aguilar with Dydyan. His legacy further flourished with seven great-grandchildren: Jordan Gomez with his girlfriend Marcela, Brianna Gomez, Adrian Gomez, Lainey Gomez, Jackson Gomez, and a great-great-grandson, Joseph Gomez. These generations are a living testament to the love and values he instilled in his family.
His warmth, infectious smile, and humor endeared him to everyone he met. Nicolas had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcome and valued, touching countless lives with his kindness and generosity. His family, extended relatives, and a wide circle of friends are all the better for having known him.
Nicolas joins in eternal rest his beloved Maria Antonia, his parents Salvador and Maria, several brothers and sisters, and his great-granddaughters, Janae and Jaelyn. Though our hearts are heavy with his passing, we are comforted by the thought of their joyous reunion.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on June 19, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Sterling White Funeral Home, located at 11011 Crosby-Lynchburg Rd, Highlands, TX 77562. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance and gratitude for the rich life he led and the love he shared.
In honoring Nicolas’s memory, let us carry forward his legacy of love, laughter, and generosity. May we all strive to emulate his remarkable ability to spread joy and warmth, keeping his spirit alive in our hearts forever.
Rest in peace, dear Nicolas. You will be missed beyond words and cherished beyond measure.
