Obituary for Neva Anne Conner
August 7, 1939 – March 15, 2026
It is with heavy hearts but fond memories that we announce the passing of Neva Anne Conner, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who departed this world on March 15, 2026, after a courageous fight with an illness. Born on August 7, 1939, in Leaday, Texas, Neva graced this world with her warmth, laughter, and unwavering spirit, leaving an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Neva was the beloved daughter of Elmer and Mattie Creek, who laid the foundation for her resilient and loving nature. On June 8, 1957, she married the love of her life, Aubrey L. Conner, in Ballinger, Texas, embarking on a journey that would span over six decades. Together, they built not only a family but also a legacy of entrepreneurship, establishing several successful businesses. Starting with Conner Bumper Works in Ballinger in May 1963, and later expanding to San Angelo in 1987 with ventures such as Conner Steel, ALNC, and Conner Farm & Ranch, Neva played a crucial role in managing the books and ensuring the smooth running of their enterprises.
Her professional achievements were only a part of the tapestry of Neva’s life. She devoted herself to her faith, becoming a baptized Jehovah's Witness on March 1, 1969. Her commitment to her beliefs was evident in her regular attendance at the Kingdom Hall and her eagerness to share her faith with others, touching many lives with her kindness and conviction.
Family was at the heart of Neva’s world. She was a nurturing and loving mother to her daughter, Carolyn Wilhite, and son-in-law, Joe Wilhite, of Grapevine, Texas, and a guiding light to her six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Though predeceased by her sons, Steve Conner in November 2013 and Butch Conner in December 2023, Neva's enduring love and cherished memories will forever be a source of comfort to those she leaves behind.
Neva’s zest for life was evident in her passions and pastimes. She was an exceptional cook, a joyful angler, an avid traveler, and a devoted puzzle enthusiast, especially enjoying the company of her great-granddaughter Camryn during their jigsaw marathons. Her laughter, love for fun, and the joy she found in life's simplest pleasures made her a beacon of happiness and strength to all who knew her.
Beyond her immediate family, Neva’s legacy includes the countless friendships she cultivated throughout her life. She was known for her generous spirit, infectious laughter, and the ability to light up any room she entered. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of those she touched.
A memorial service to celebrate Neva’s remarkable life will be held at a later date, where friends and family will gather to honor the legacy of a truly special woman. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Neva’s memory to a charity of choice that embodies her spirit of giving and love for others.
Neva Anne Conner, a life beautifully lived, now rests in peace, having left an enduring imprint on the world through her love, faith, and unwavering joy. She will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
