Nettie Spencer Gautreau, passed from this life on February 3, 2026. She was born on July 2, 1942, in Natchez, the daughter of John Barnett Spencer Sr., Bobbie and Edmund A. Burke Sr. Nettie was full of joy and kindness and her fun-loving spirit radiating warmth to all those fortunate enough to know her. She was predeceased by her parents, her infant daughters Dawn Marie Gautreau and Kelly Denise Gautreau, and her brothers John B. Spencer Jr. and Tony Burke. Nettie leaves behind a legacy of love through her son, Doyle M. (Chip) Gautreau, Jr., who was her pride and joy. Her niece, Léna Spencer Ford, was raised to adulthood by Nettie after the passing of Léna's dad, John Spencer, Jr. Nettie is also survived by her sister, JoElla Burke, and her brother, Richard Burke, Sr. and his wife Terri. Nettie's family including nieces, nephews, SILs, cousins, and cherished friends were the core of her life, and she carried them in her heart always. Her joyous soul and kind-heartedness continue to live on in the memories of all who knew her. The family wishes to express their gratitude to all friends and loved ones who have reached out in sympathy and concern. They encourage everyone to hold Nettie's memories close or to share them with others, ensuring that her vibrant spirit lives on in each heart she touched. A private burial ceremony will be held with Nettie being laid to rest next to her infant daughters at the Natchez City Cemetery. Although you have departed, your love and laughter remain with us, a testament to a life beautifully lived. Rest in peace, dear one, knowing you are cherished and remembered always.
