Obituary: Nelson Qan'aq Nose September 3, 1943 – August 1, 2026 With heavy hearts, we mourn the passing of Nelson Qan'aq Nose, who left this world peacefully at his assisted living home in Palmer. Born on September 3, 1943, in the loving community of Kwethluk, Nelson was the beloved son of the late John and Helena Nose. He joins in rest his parents, as well as his cherished siblings, Martha Michael and Wasillie, Mary Phillip and Phillip Sr, and Barbra, the late wife of Carl Nose. Nelson's life was a testament to dedication, hard work, and a deep connection to community. From a young age, he learned the art of trapping, working alongside his father. This experience fostered a lifelong love of the outdoors, where hunting, fishing, and trapping were not just hobbies, but a way of life that he cherished and shared with his family and friends. His professional life saw him contributing to various canneries, yet his true passion lay in service to his community. Nelson was a devoted volunteer at his church, where his warm smile and generous spirit left an indelible impact on all who crossed his path. He was a man who made everyone feel welcomed and valued, a gift that touched countless lives. Nelson is survived by his loving siblings: Alexie Nose and Gloria, Phillip Nose and Alice, Elizabeth Nicolai and Sak'aq, and Carl Nose. His legacy continues through his many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and countless friends who were fortunate enough to feel his kindness. A Celebration of Life will take place on August 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Kwethluk Church. The service will feature heartfelt tributes, including a eulogy by Jenessy Sallaffie. Following the service, a feast will be held at Valadamir and Mary Jackson's home, offering a chance to share stories and memories of Nelson's remarkable life. The family extends their deepest gratitude to those who have been a source of support and comfort during this time.
