Nels Eugene Nelson

February 22, 1940 — August 24, 2026

Nels Eugene Nelson February 22,1940 - August 24,2026 Townsend Mt Nels Eugene Nelson age 86 from Townsend MT, passed away peacefully in Helena MT August 24, 2026 with his sons and daughter in laws by his side. Nels was born in Sanders Idaho on February 22, 1940 to Antone Nelson and Ruth Nelson. Nels had joined the Army before finding a career in his lifelong journey of logging. You could find him behind the wheel of a fifth wheel driving for a logging company. On his logging journey it took him across many states, including California, Arizonia, Idaho and Montana. Montana is where his roots grew and where he ended up calling it home with his beloved wife Bea (Beatrice). Nels and Beatrice welcomed three loving sons into the world during their time together: Kenny, Sterling and Dave. Nels and Bea soon made way and made home in Townsend, MT, where Nels continued his logging career. When it was time to hang up the hat and retire, you could find Nels working for the county, working out on the county trucks changing oil, tires, anything to keep his hands moving. There was no slowing down Nels. You could also find him sitting out on his porch with his beloved dog Skidder watching the cars drive by on the highway or the sun setting, anything with Skidder involved or tinkering on an old car to keep him busy is what you could find him doing in the early morning hours or evening hours. You could always see how loved Nels was, friends always coming and going, the front door was always open at Nels' place. Need a place to go and sit and talk? Nels' place was the place you would see the cars at most mornings. Nels is preceded in death by his parents Antone and Ruth Nelson siblings: Orvile, Edwin, Cardy, and Albert. His beloved wife Bea Nelson. His beloved dog Skidder (We hope you and Skidder had the greatest reunion). Family friend Tom Anderson. Nels is forever carried on and lived on by his Sons: Kenny Nelson (Leona), Dave (Deshell), Sterling (Vickie), Sister: Karen Rambo, Many Grandchildren, Many Great Grandchildren, Lifelong Friends: Rick (Teresa), Joe Hovley, Billy Amsk, Dave & Connie Johnson, The Anderson Family, and many more lifelong friends.
