February 10, 1942 — June 1, 2026
With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the peaceful passing of Nellie J. Ransom, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who left this world on June 1, 2026, at the age of 84. Nellie was surrounded by the warmth of her home and the love of her family, finding eternal rest after a life filled with grace and compassion.
Born on February 10, 1942, in the small, close-knit community of Dow City Arion, Iowa, Nellie was the cherished daughter of Bobby and Jo Linahan. Her roots in Iowa were strong, and she carried the values and warmth of her upbringing throughout her life. Nellie graduated from Schleswig High School in 1954, a bright student with a promising future.
Nellie dedicated her life to her family, finding great joy and fulfillment in her role as a homemaker. She was the devoted wife of the late Mr. Ransom and the loving mother of two wonderful children: Patsy Jo Peterson and Pierce L. Ransom. Her legacy is lovingly carried forward by her children, seven beautiful grandchildren, and four precious great-grandchildren, each a testament to her enduring love and profound impact.
A woman of many talents and passions, Nellie found solace and joy in her garden, where she spent countless hours nurturing her plants and flowers, coaxing beauty from the earth with her gentle hands. Her love for knitting was another testament to her creativity and patience, crafting warm garments and keepsakes that her family will treasure forever.
Nellie's radiant smile could light up any room, and her immense heart was open to anyone who had the pleasure of crossing her path. Her kindness and warmth made her a friend to all, and she was always eager to meet new people, spreading joy and love wherever she went. Her generous spirit and infectious laughter will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
A celebration of Nellie's life will be held on June 6, 2026, at 1:30 PM at St. Luke's, located at 3321 5th Ave. Family and friends are invited to gather to honor and remember a remarkable woman whose life touched so many.
As we bid farewell to Nellie, we hold her memory close, knowing that her love and light will continue to guide and inspire us. In her name, may we all strive to bring a little more kindness and beauty into the world, just as she did. Nellie J. Ransom will be forever loved and profoundly missed, yet her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
