In Loving Memory

Nejlah Muhammad
February 3, 1984 — May 23, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Nejlah Muhammad, who departed this world peacefully in her sleep on May 23, 2026, at the age of 42. Born on February 3, 1984, in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, Nejlah was a beacon of compassion and strength, whose life was a testament to love, dedication, and service.
Nejlah was the cherished daughter of Alif Muhammad and Maria Muhammad, who nurtured her with the values of kindness and empathy that she carried throughout her life. As a sister and a friend, she was predeceased by her loving sister Faiza and brother Ali, with whom she shared an unbreakable bond. Though they are no longer with us, Nejlah's memories of them remained a guiding light in her life.
A proud graduate of Crete High School, Nejlah pursued higher education at South Suburban College, where she developed a passion for helping others. This passion led her to a remarkable career in the behavioral health field, where she dedicated her life to managing over twelve homes for youth with developmental challenges. Nejlah's unwavering commitment to advocating for their well-being was marked by her gentle spirit and a kindness that left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.
Nejlah's life was a tapestry woven with moments of love, laughter, and an unyielding dedication to her family, friends, and the youth she served. Her legacy of compassion will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
A service celebrating Nejlah's life will be held on June 13, 2026, at 11:00 AM at the Chicago Islamic Center, located at 3357 W 63rd St, Chicago, IL 60629. Family, friends, and all whose lives were touched by Nejlah are invited to join in remembering and honoring a remarkable woman whose spirit will forever remain in our hearts.
In honor of Nejlah's memory, the family kindly requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to organizations supporting youth with developmental challenges, continuing her legacy of compassion and support.
As we say goodbye to Nejlah, we hold close the memories of her vibrant life, the warmth of her smile, and the depth of her love. May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved sister and brother, and may her spirit shine brightly in the hearts of all who loved her.
