Nathaniel Wilson

April 16, 1958 — October 7, 2026

Nathaniel Wilson, affectionately known as "Big Nate," passed away peacefully on October 7, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and generosity. Born on April 16, 1958, in Columbia, South Carolina, Nathaniel was the cherished son of the Late Hattie Harrison Wilson and the Late Samuel Eugene Porterfield. Educated in the Richland County School district, Nathaniel carried his early learning into a life filled with hard work and dedication. He spent many years working for the Salvation Army, serving those in need with compassion and humility, before returning to his true passion—truck driving. Nathaniel's career on the road allowed him to explore the world beyond and meet countless individuals who would become friends. Nathaniel's greatest joy was his family, particularly his grandchildren. He delighted in teaching them the art of cooking, sharing meals, and supporting their endeavors with unwavering enthusiasm. His home was always filled with laughter, much of it sparked by his contagious laugh that could brighten the darkest of days. Surviving Nathaniel are his beloved children: Jamaal C. Wilson, Sha'nae J. Wilson, and Jeron S. Wilson, all of Columbia, SC; and his five treasured grandchildren. He is also survived by his devoted siblings, brothers Kenneth (Patricia) Wilson, Larry (Carla) Wilson, Ronnie Taylor Sr., Andrew Wilson, Doyace (Tawanna) Wilson; and sisters Commie Holmes, Belinda Edwards, Andrea (Payton) Johnson, Carol Wilson, Jenny (Henry) Scott, and Paula Wilson. Nathaniel's extended family includes numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, uncles, aunts, and a wealth of friends who will forever cherish his memory. Known for his kind heart and generous spirit, Nathaniel's presence was a gift to all who knew him. His laughter and warmth left an indelible mark on the lives he touched, earning him the love and respect of his community. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone who supported and stood by them during this difficult time. A special thanks is given to those who looked out for Nathaniel's family and contributed to their well-being. "Forever Love" is the message the family wishes to share, reflecting the enduring bond and cherished memories Nathaniel leaves behind. He will be dearly missed, but his spirit will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

If Tomorrow Starts Without Me

If tomorrow starts without me, and I'm not there to see, if the sun should rise and find your eyes all filled with tears for me; I wish so much you wouldn't cry the way you did today, while thinking of the many things we didn't get to say. I know how much you love me, as much as I love you, and each time that you think of me, I know you'll miss me too. But when tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand that an angel came and called my name and took me by the hand.

Special Thanks

The family wishes to thank everyone who came and supported. We would also like to give a special thanks to everyone who looked out for his family and contributed. "Forever Love"
