It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we share the passing of Nathan Spencer Hamilton, a cherished husband, devoted father, and treasured grandfather. Nathan passed away peacefully at his home in Albermale, North Carolina, on May 2, 2026, at the age of 85, after suffering a massive heart attack. His departure leaves an irreplaceable void in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Born on June 25, 1940, in Albermale, Nathan was a beacon of strength, integrity, and warmth. Throughout his life, he embodied the values instilled in him by his upbringing, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of crossing his path. A proud graduate of high school, Nathan's journey through life was marked by dedication, hard work, and an insatiable love for the outdoors.
Nathan proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines from 1970 to 1975, where he forged bonds of camaraderie and demonstrated unwavering patriotism. His service to his country was a testament to his character, as he approached every challenge with resilience and courage.
After his military service, Nathan returned to his roots, embracing the rugged life of a lumberjack and farmer. His time spent working with the land was not just a profession but a calling that connected him to the earth and the simple joys of life. Whether felling trees or tending to his crops, Nathan found peace and purpose in the hard labor that defined him.
In 1981, Nathan married the love of his life, Catherine Ellis Mills. Together, they built a life rich in love and laughter, celebrating 35 wonderful years of marriage. Their journey was blessed with six children, who were the pride and joy of Nathan's life. Known for his infectious laugh, Nathan had an uncanny ability to bring joy to those around him, brightening even the darkest of days with his humor and warmth.
Nathan's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife, Catherine, and their six children, who will forever cherish the memories of a father who taught them the values of love, respect, and perseverance. He also leaves behind 15 adoring grandchildren, who will carry forward the lessons and stories of their dear grandfather.
In addition to his family, Nathan found solace and excitement in his hobbies of hunting and four-wheeling. These pastimes were not just activities but an extension of his adventurous spirit, providing moments of reflection and exhilaration in the great outdoors he so dearly loved.
Nathan was predeceased by his son, Maurice Hamilton, whose memory he held close to his heart. The two are now reunited, watching over their family with boundless love.
In accordance with Nathan's wishes, a private funeral ceremony will be held to honor his life and legacy. While we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life well-lived, full of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion to family and friends.
