Napoleon McDay, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on March 18, 2026, at the Briarwood Health Center in Tucker, Georgia. Born in the close-knit community of Abbeville, Alabama, on November 29, 1929, Napoleon was the son of Alfred and Willie Mae McDay. He lived a remarkable 96 years, leaving a legacy of love, faith, and service that will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Napoleon was a proud veteran, having served his country with honor in the United States Army during the Korean War. His dedication to service extended beyond the battlefield, as he devoted much of his life to St. Peter Baptist Church in Abbeville. As a faithful Deacon, he was always ready to lend a hand, whether it was assisting with church activities or offering a comforting word to someone in need. His commitment to his faith and community was unwavering, and he uplifted many through his tireless service and genuine compassion. Music was another of Napoleon's great loves. He was a cherished member of the church choir and the Henry County Male Chorus, where his rich voice and infectious enthusiasm brought joy to countless listeners. Whether singing in harmony with others or sharing a warm smile and a quick-witted remark, Napoleon had a unique ability to touch hearts and lift spirits. He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Willie Mae McDay, his sister Louise McAllister, and his beloved wife, Annie Ruth Montgomery-McDay. His memory will be forever cherished by his devoted daughter, Alisa McDay of Atlanta, Georgia, and his two grandsons, Fabian Purnell of Kokomo, Indiana, and Khalil Butler of Columbia, South Carolina. Napoleon was also the proud great-grandfather to Maddox and Kaiyzen Purnell of Kokomo, Indiana. He is survived by his loving niece, Brenda McAllister of Atlanta, Georgia, and his longtime companion, Lillian Baptist. His god-daughter, Beverly Capehart, along with a host of relatives, devoted church family, and dear friends, will miss him deeply. The family of Napoleon McDay wishes to express their sincere gratitude for all acts of kindness, prayers, and support shown during this time of bereavement. Your love and compassion have been a source of comfort and strength, and they are deeply appreciated. Napoleon's life was a testament to the power of faith, love, and community. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of kindness and service will continue to inspire us all.
