October 13, 1942 — April 18, 2026
Naoma Louisa Satterwhite Ennis, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on April 18, 2026, surrounded by the tender presence of her family and friends. She was 83 years old. Born on October 13, 1942, in Dallas, Texas, Naoma was the cherished daughter of UK and Mary Marie Satterwhite.
Naoma's journey through life was marked by love, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to her family and community. On May 29, 1962, she married her soulmate, Billy Joe Ennis, with whom she shared 59 joyous years of marriage. Together, they raised three wonderful children: Jolene Graham, Brian and April Ennis, and Benjamin Ennis. Naoma's family was the center of her world, and her love extended to her grandchildren: Savannah and Brian Rhea, Kait Batting, Serena Margaret Ennis, Tabitha Mary Marie Ennis, and Brein Joseph Ennis. She was also blessed with the companionship of her devoted sisters, Betty Kathrine Poage and Bonnie Ruth Ballard, and her long-time friend, Linda C. Lloyd.
Educated at Greenville High School, Naoma further pursued her passion for learning by attending Business College in Dallas, Texas. Her professional life was diverse and fulfilling, marked by her dedication to the Social Security Administration and her entrepreneurial spirit as a co-owner of several small businesses, including an answering service, Hardways Tool Company, and BJ Ennis Enterprises. Her commitment to serving others extended beyond her career, as she also worked as a bus driver for both the Carrollton/Farmers Branch School District and in Greece, NY. Her warmth and enthusiasm touched the lives of many, including those she encountered while working at Bingo Merrymakers in both Texas and Hilton, New York.
Naoma’s life was enriched by her deep faith and dedication to her church, where she was an active member for many years. Her heart for service was evident in her volunteer work for her city and local food pantry. A perpetual learner, Naoma never shied away from new experiences, taking senior classes at TCC College in plants and landscaping, writing courses, and even a class on American Sign Language. Her hobbies, which included writing, crocheting, cooking, and reading, were a testament to her vibrant spirit and desire to stay engaged with the world around her.
Known for her genuine smile and ready ear, Naoma had a gift for brightening the days of those she encountered. Her kindness and warmth were the hallmarks of a life well-lived, and her legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Naoma was predeceased by her husband, Billy Joe Ennis; her parents, UK and Mary Marie Satterwhite; her grandson, Nicholas A. Mungioli; and her sister, Viola Halstead. As her family mourns the loss of a remarkable woman, they find comfort in the knowledge that she is reunited with her loved ones who have gone before her.
A celebration of Naoma's life will be held on April 25, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Lucas Funeral Home, located at 1321 Precinct Line Rd, Hurst, TX 76053. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Heart to Heart Hospice for their compassionate care during Naoma's final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the local food pantry or a charity of your choice in Naoma's honor, as a reflection of her generous and giving spirit.
