With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Nancy Zukowski, a beloved wife, sister, aunt, and friend, who peacefully departed this world on May 14, 2026. Nancy, born on December 25, 1961, in Rockford, Illinois, graced this world with her presence and warmth for 64 years. She leaves behind a legacy of love and inspiration that will be cherished by all who knew her.
Nancy was the treasured daughter of J. Peter and Mary Ann Hedlin, who predeceased her and undoubtedly welcomed her with open arms. She was the loving wife of Bob Zukowski, with whom she shared 37 extraordinary years of marriage. Their love story began on a glacier in Alaska, where they married on August 30, 1995, embarking on a life filled with adventure and happiness.
A graduate of Woodstock High School in 1979, Nancy pursued her passion for communication and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mass Communications from Illinois State University. Her remarkable 40-year career in Product Marketing was marked by her role as Chief Marketing Officer for a prominent International Non-profit organization linked with the Technology & Standards Consortium. Nancy was revered as a trailblazer and a mentor, celebrated for her ability to lead high-performing teams and drive exceptional growth.
Nancy's zest for life was evident in her love for travel, a passion she shared with Bob. Their adventures took them around the globe, with a pivotal chapter in their journey beginning in 2009 when Nancy's career brought them to London, England, for three unforgettable years. Their time abroad was a gateway to exploring new cultures and creating a tapestry of cherished memories.
Nancy's spirit will forever be remembered by her loving siblings: Susan (John) Workman, Kathy (Dale) Messman, Julia Rausch (Doug Matthews), Karin (Eddie) Newcomer, Peter (Michelle) Hedlin, David Hedlin, and Matthew Hedlin, as well as her many nieces and nephews who adored her dearly.
A celebration of Nancy's life will be held on June 19, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Schneider, Leucht, Merwin & Cooney Funeral Home, located at 1211 N. Seminary Avenue, Woodstock, IL 60098. Family and friends are invited to gather and honor the remarkable life of a woman whose heart touched so many.
In these moments of reflection, we hold Nancy close in our hearts, forever grateful for her love and light. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as her spirit continues to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
