Nancy Wood (née Duer)
July 31, 1963 – June 2, 2026
Nancy Wood, a cherished soul whose spirit was as vibrant as her love for life, passed away peacefully at her home in Columbus Ohio, on June 2, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on July 31, 1963, in Akron, OH, Nancy was the beloved daughter of the late John and Rose Duer.
A devoted wife, Nancy shared over two decades of marriage with her loving husband, Bradley Wood, whom she married on October 5, 1985. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories, and were blessed with two wonderful children, Christopher and Eve, who were her pride and joy.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Juliane Ceynar, and her sister-in-law Patricia Duer. Her legacy is carried forward by her children, her surviving siblings Dave, Terri, Barb, Joe, Tom, John, Joanne, and Chris, as well as her many nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom she loved dearly.
Nancy found immense joy in nurturing her extended family. Her niece Jessica Thilges and nephew Jesse Duer held special places in her heart, as did all her nieces and nephews.
Education was a cornerstone of Nancy's life, and she devoted many years to working as a school bus driver, where she was not only responsible for safely transporting children but also for bringing smiles and warmth into their daily lives. Her dedication extended beyond her work, as she was an active member of Saint Cecelia Catholic Church, where she contributed her time and spirit to the community she cherished.
Nancy was a passionate supporter of her hometown teams, the Cleveland Guardians and the Browns, and was an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes. Her love for sports was matched only by her love for reading, a pastime she enjoyed throughout her life.
A private funeral ceremony will be held to honor Nancy's life, allowing those closest to her to celebrate the joy and love she brought into the world. Her family takes solace in knowing that she is reunited with those who preceded her, and her spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Nancy's name to cancer research organizations, continuing her legacy of love and hope. Her memory will forever be a guiding light to her family and friends, reminding them of the strength, resilience, and kindness that defined her life.
Nancy’s presence will be deeply missed but remembered with warmth and affection by all who knew her.
